Helping Developers Shift MMO Platforms

Via this article from mocoNews we found an interesting snippet about a company called Good Games Productions, who's main focus is to help developers of PC-based MMO extend their concepts to be featured on both Facebook and iPhone.

"Good" is the brainchild of game industry vet Grantley Day and, aside from already having a small development team, has a roster of games and developers they're working with.

mocoNews says, "It’s a cost-effective business model, since the startup won’t have to invest the millions up front currently needed to build a game from scratch—not to mention market it in the hopes of growing a huge audience," and we agree.

An interesting change, merging of platforms, we can't wait to see if this type business model takes off or if developers create in-house teams to port their own MMO's to other platforms.

"Face"-ing Up To PS3

Here's some news that we (the producers of three supremely awesome Facebook games) are quite giddy about the possibility of: murmurs in the video game blog-o-sphere seem to be speculating that the PS3 system may soon become Facebook-enabled.

The gossip has apparently been triggered by three errant images that appeared on PlayStation's website yesterday and that depicted Facebook running on PS3's XCrossMediaBar. Here they are for your own consideration:

Though the snapshots have been pulled down since leaking, Sony UK PR has responded to the snafu by saying that official news on the subject will be arriving "very shortly".

So basically, it seems like the company was giving the images a test run on their web building software and accidentally uploaded the content. Pretty good accident, we think, as it has garnered some unintended publicity for the forthcoming announcement and subsequently given a little heat to XBox 360, who have already officially demoed both Facebook and Twitter for their console.

Clever dealings Sony, clever indeed. You can read a bit more here: GameSpy

Ever dazzled by graffiti but have no idea what it is saying? Decode the message and learn some neat stuff about modern street typography courtesy of the Cartier Foundation. ( Thanks for the link Design Observer. )

I thought this was relevant because our soon to be released game Repot Depot has an urban theme with some stylish grafitti of its own. SMERC is so street!

Davis: 'Facebook Credits' Payment Method Could Boost Games

For a developer, same thing. It's like, 'happier user, more transactions.' It's potentially very, very appealing to them. That's what we think. We're testing this out right now, and as soon as we have more information to share, we'll share that.
